BROTHERS MEMBERS APPOINTED TO CRITICAL
RUGBY ADMINISTRATIVE POSITIONS
Richard (Dick) McGruther appointed Vice-President and then Director of ARU
During the year Dick McGruther, a life member and former administrator and Club player, was elected to the position of Vice-President of the Australian Rugby Union (ARU). Dick was a former ARU President and therefore an admiral choice for this position.
To fill the vacancy caused by the resignation from the board of directors of the ARU by Rod McCall (see below) Dick was recently appointed a director of the ARU.
We wish Dick all the best for his time in this onerous position particularly at a time when the sport is embarking on important and far-reaching decisions for the future.
Rod McCall appointed Chairman of the QRU
Earlier in the year the Queensland Rugby Union (QRU) was in disarray with the resignation of both the President Peter Lewis and the Chief Executive Officer and the revelation that the QRU had participated in a potential scandal through the acceptance of a grant from the State Government, part of which was passed onto the Queensland University Rugby club, and was to be investigated by the CMC.
The QRU board commenced a search for a Chairman and settled on a former player and current member of Brothers who had previously attained the position of Wallaby Captain. Some might say Rod by accepting the role was on a hiding to nothing but Rod is, if nothing else, tenacious, a quality he demonstrated in many tests and two World Cups as lock for Australia.
Rod has commenced the position with decisiveness and appears to have already dealt with a number of things that have ailed the QRU in the past.
We wish both these gentlemen well in their endeavors.

2009 TROPHY NIGHT AWARDS (October 5, 2009)
The end of the season saw the annual 'Trophy Night' a night where the special efforts of certain players, coaches, managers and some dedicated supporters are recognised. A special mention must go to Ant Sauer whose tireless work goes unnoticed, and is overshone by the spectacle, that is the season highlights, that he puts together for the night.
